Richard Lang Chandler New York, USA, b. 1955

Biography

Lives and works in New York.

Lang studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture, and The Art Students’ League, in New York. He has been awarded by the Myra C. Berol Memorial and the National Academy of Design. He has lectured at School of Visual Arts and The Juilliard School. He has also been awarded with residencies and prices such as the 36th Annual National Juried Exhibition, Westbeth Gallery.

Lang’s work is a fusion of cityscapes and landscapes through the connection between man and nature. Architecture and landscape are his inspiration. Buildings undulate, skies and sidewalks are wildly dappled, and perspectives seem to head towards some extraordinary other-worldly denouement.

He has mainly had solo exhibits in New York at JGK Galleries, Rochester; David Findlay Galleries; The Schoolhouse Galleries, Croton Falls; The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, Blue Mountain Lake; and others.

He has participated in group shows at LaGalery Fine Arts, Eze, France; Lumen Gallery, New York; The Catto Gallery, London; South Hampton Inn. His works are held at The China Center of Cultural Affairs, Beijing; The Arts Students League, New York; and others.
