Peter Stanick Pittsburg, USA, b. 1953

Biography

Lives and works in Sarasota, Florida.

He received his BA from Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh and his MA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. 

Inspired by Pop Art, Stanick’s work covers a wide range of world images taken from the Internet. His visual language is originally digital; he then uses animation software to create his drawings, which he transfers to aluminium. His imagery is composed by snapshots of everyday life which are elevated in order to transcend the mundane or boring. 

Stanick has presented his work at Lumas, Cologne; Galerie Marion Meyer, Paris; Davies and Tooth, London; Carling Dalenson, Stockholm; Joy Horwich Gallery, Chicago; Pat Friedberg Gallery, Longboat Key, Florida; Frank Bustamante Gallery, New York; and Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, among other places.

His work belongs to many public collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Osaka Museum of Art; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Novestra, Stockholm; Saatchi Gallery, London, among others.
