Los guardadores del rebaño sintieron miedo, pero el mensajero de Dios, con un brazo más próximo a la tierra y otro al cielo, les comunicó que debían alegrarse porque en la ciudad de David había nacido un Salvador: era Cristo el Señor, un niño a quien encontrarían envuelto en pañales y acostado en un pesebre.
El pueblo judío despreciaba el oficio de los pastores, los consideraba parias de la sociedad; sin embargo, fueron precisamente ellos quienes recibieron al Dios encarnado.
Ahí radica la gran enseñanza del pasaje, dado que ese grupo se convirtió en símbolo de todas las personas discriminadas, a quienes Dios busca y acoge para dignificarlas a través de lo divino.9de 24 -
