Tres jóvenes posan en un frondoso y colorido jardín, vestidos también con vivos colores. Miran de frente con aire tranquilo. A su alrededor crecen grandes flores, los árboles florecen, vuela un pájaro… La naturaleza rebosa de vida y el juego de la luz sugiere el día y la noche simultáneos, o tal vez el ciclo diario completo.


Tomokazu Matsuyama, artista criado entre Japón y los Estados Unidos, explora la identidad nacional y la globalización en la era de Internet. Su obra bebe tanto de la tradición artística oriental como de la occidental. Sus lienzos contienen referencias a su origen bicultural; se inspira en el arte pop y el manga, los vaqueros y los samuráis, el grafiti y la era Meiji, el expresionismo abstracto y la xilografía. Matsuyama utiliza una paleta de colores vibrantes y en sus composiciones se difuminan los límites entre los interiores domésticos y el mundo natural.
