    La obra de Brian Calvin retrata a un hombre de perfil con el cabello sobre su rostro, quien sostiene un billete quemándose cerca de su nariz.
    Calvin desarrolló un estilo pictórico figurativo con un tratamiento en primer plano de sus sujetos, estructuras altamente compuestas y luminosos colores que yacen planos. Su técnica es un tipo de abstracción en cuanto a la representación de ciertos detalles. Sus retratos de jóvenes soñolientos son pintados sobre fondos que Calvin escribe como atisbos “generales” de la costa de California.
