    David, joven pastor, visita el campamento de la batalla entre los filisteos y el ejército de Israel para saber de sus hermanos. Ahí escucha que Goliat, filisteo de gran tamaño, desafió a sus enemigos a pelear. David, valiente y respetuoso hacia el rey Saúl, acepta luchar, confiando en Dios que ya lo había salvado en enfrentamientos contra animales feroces. David mata al gigante con una piedra pegándole en la frente. Este pasaje representa el momento en que corta la cabeza de Goliat, lo que simboliza un trofeo de victoria, remitiendo a la fuerza y al poder de Dios.
