Biography

Lives and works in Rosh Pina, Israel. 

Eliezer Sonnenschein studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Art and Design in Bezalel, Jerusalem.

In his work, which ranges from painting and sculpture to installations and digital photomontage, Sonnenschein makes a political critique of contemporary Israeli social norms and digital culture. His work includes apocalyptic scenes, weapons, and robotic characters. The artist takes references from virtual media, video games and images from social networks, to juxtapose them in different realities.

Sonnenschein has shown his work in solo exhibitions on several occasions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzliya; Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv, and Art Basel, Miami. Collectively, he has participated in numerous exhibitions at The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Gal-On Art Space, Tel Aviv; Museum of Contemporary Art, Vigo; Bethanien Haus, Berlin; Netherlands Media Art Institute, Amsterdam; among many others.
