Biography

Born in Mexico City in 1968.

Lives and works in Mexico City.

De la Mora studied Architecture at Universidad Anáhuac del Norte, Mexico City; he received his  MFA in Photography and Video from the Pratt Institute, New York, and did a residency at the École Supérieure d'Art et Design Saint-Étienne, France. He is a FONCA and a Jacques and Natasha Gelman fellow, he has received several awards such as the VII Bienal de Monterrey FEMSA, Monterrey N.L.

His work explores finitude, permanence, the passage of time, and matter and energy transformation. The materials he uses come from an everyday context, which may even be considered as trash, resulting in diverse formats that play with the notions of drawing, painting, and sculpture.

 He has had individual exhibits at The Drawing Center, New York; Timothy Taylor, London; Sicardi Gallery, Houston; Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, CA; Conner Contemporary, Washington D.C.; Galería OMR, Mexico City, and Museo Amparo, Puebla, among others.

His work is part of the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Art Museum of the Americas, O.E.A., Washington D.C.; Colección Jumex, Mexico City, and Perez Art Museum, Miami.
