Miltos Manetas Athens, Greece, b. 1964

Biography

Lives and works between Rome, New York, and Bogota.

Manetas studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milano, Italy. He has been awarded by the People's Voice Winner of the Webby Awards 2009 for JacksonPollock.org; and he initiated the Internet Pavilion for the Venice Biennial. He has lectured at many institutions, and has taught Fundamentals of Computer Art at New York University.

 

Manetas is a painter, conceptual artist and theorist whose work explores the representation and the aesthetics of information society and Post-Internet Art. His paintings represent modern people in their modern settings.

 

He has done special projects at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome; Arthub, Shanghai, China; Museo d'inverno, Siena; Istituto Svizzero, Milan; Deitch projects, New York; Internet Pavilion for the Venice Biennial, and others. Some of his solo exhibitions have been at the Conceptual Art Centre, Sweden; Galerie Plutschow, Zürich; La Central, Bogota; Yvon Lambert and Gagosian Gallery, both in New York; and Cosmic Gallery, Paris. He has also participated in several group shows.
