Oh de Laval Poland, b. 1990

Biography

Oh de Laval was born in Warsaw in 1990. She lives and works between London and Paris.
She earned a degree in Sociology from the University of Warsaw.

The artist’s stated interest lies in human behavior and the weight of our decisions on our emotional states. This concern is reflected both in the expressive—often erotic‑inflected—style that characterizes her painting and in her approach to living the life of an artist, which she regards as requiring courage and holding as much importance as the work itself.

Her solo exhibitions include I Miss When People Had Secrets and Take Your Pleasure Seriously at Marguo Gallery, Paris, and Wild Things Happen in Stillness at Unit, London. She has participated in group exhibitions at Claire Castaud, Paris; Allouche Gallery, New York; the Museum of Sex, New York; Bridge Mogura Gallery, Tokyo; Droste, Paris; Nassima Landau Art Foundation, Tel Aviv; Asia Art Center, Taipei; Xiao Foundation; Villa Merkel, Esslingen; Droste, Paris; and Unit, London.

Her work can be found in collections such as the Dib Museum, Bangkok; the Rudin DeWoody Collection, Florida; Studio Berkhain Museum, Berlin; Emergentes Art Collection, Lebanon; Xiao Foundation, Hong Kong; X Museum, Beijing; and Asymmetry Foundation, London.
