Jean-Philippe Delhomme Nanterre, Francia, b. 1959

Biography

Jean‑Philippe Delhomme was born in Nanterre in 1959 and lives and works in Paris.

After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1985, Delhomme chose printed media over painting for its potential to reach a wide audience.

However, after developing a successful career in the fields of press and communication, Delhomme began exhibiting his paintings in 2017.

Delhomme’s work is characterized by direct observation of the subject. It is not mediated by photography and is executed in single, unique painting sessions, thereby capturing the here and now. The reflective and solitary experience of painting reality has gradually imposed its rhythm and implacability over social commentary on style and culture. Painting remains the primary focus of his practice, although the artist has retained his sharp perspective as a social observer.

His work has been exhibited internationally at galleries and institutions including Martine Gossieaux and Colette in Paris; Wright Gallery, Partners & Spade, Danziger Projects, and the FIAF Gallery in New York; the French Institutes in Berlin and Munich; the Festival International de la Mode et de la Photographie in Hyères; the Fashion Illustration Gallery in London; the Museo del Traje in Madrid; and Shiseido and Rocket Gallery in Tokyo.
