Two men dressed in suits. One is consulting some documents while the other watches him. Papers flutter about them. The setting is evidently an office, suggested by their attire, the lamp, and the chair. The square format, the expression of one of the men, and the sheer oddity of the situation give the painting the feel of a newspaper cartoon or a comic strip, even though it is a large-scale work.
Georgíou often depicts human figures engaged in unconventional activities that sometimes border on clumsiness or even absurdity—placing him within a long European tradition. Typically executed on large canvases using a controlled burst of skillful strokes and broad brushwork, the scenes he portrays are everyday yet timeless, and imbued with an eccentric humor.
