Christopher Winter Kent, England, b. 1968
Born in Kent in 1968, he lives and works in Berlin.
Winter studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, the Camberwell School of Art, London, and Hastings College of Arts. He has been the City Artist in Residence of Mannheim and was a member of the London art collective BANK.
His work is influenced by literature, film, and politics. He draws upon characters, both fictional and from his own environment, in series of paintings with a specific theme. For example, his Virgin Forest series is based on German and British fairy tales and forests.
He has had solo exhibitions at Lehr Zeitgenössische Kunst in both Berlin and Cologne; at Anbacher Contemporary, Munich; Edelman Arts, New York; La Pagode, Paris; Städtisches Museum, Albstadt; and Bauhaus Museum Dessau, among others.
He's also been part of many group exhibitions, primarily in Europe and the United States.
His work is part of public and private collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, Photography and Architecture, Berlin; the Berlinische Galerie Museum; the Wilhelm-Hack Museum; and the Krystyna Gmurzynska, Rothschild, and Borghese collections.
