Biography
Born in Cape Town in 1976, he lives in Turku, Finland.
He studied at De Ateliers in Amsterdam and at the Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam.
 
He has received the Tollman Award for Visual Arts and has taken part in residencies at Art Omi International, New York; Glenfiddich, Dufftown, Scotland; the Thami Mnyele Foundation, Amsterdam; and the Robben Island Museum, Cape Town.
He works with large-format paintings in which he links Western pop culture, the tradition of Dutch portraiture, and the avant-garde of African street culture.
 
Some of his solo exhibitions have been held at Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery, Luxembourg; Mikael Andersen, Copenhagen; Jack Tilton, New York; Michael Stevenson, Cape Town; Bertrand & Gruner, Geneva; the Virtual Museum of Contemporary African Art; Tanya Rumpff, Haarlem; and the 27th São Paulo Biennial.
 
His work is included in the collections of the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Tunisia; the Sindika Dokolo Foundation, Angola; the Burger Collection, Hong Kong; the North Carolina Museum of Art; and the Pizzuti Collection, Miami, among others.
