Beneath the imperative "Don’t," a naked man saws himself in half across the torso. The gesture is raw, yet the positioning of his arms conveys a virtuosity akin to dance. The cut reveals the solid nature of the body’s interior—black and monolithic—as if it were an object.
Shrigley is renowned for his bitingly funny, rawly composed cartoons. His distinctive style and ironic sense of humor permeate every aspect of his work, ranging from drawings, photographs, and paintings to sculptures, taxidermy pieces, animations, and spoken-word projects.
