In 1967, boxer Muhammad Ali was stripped of his titles and banned from competing because of his opposition to the Vietnam War and his refusal to be drafted. He was finally able to return to the ring on October 26, 1970, in a bout billed as The Return of the Champion, in which he faced Jerry Quarry. Ali won by technical knockout. They faced each other again in 1972.
