La obra de Julião Sarmento retrata la parte inferior del cuerpo de una mujer quien aparece sentada sobre una mesa utilizando una falda. Del lado inferior derecho se observa una frase de Michael Foucault enmarcada dentro de un rectángulo, y en la parte superior derecha aparece la frase "ying animals".
El trabajo de Sarmento combina cine, video, sonido, pintura, escultura e instalación y trata temas como la interacción psicológica, la sensualidad, el voyerismo y la transgresión. Sus imágenes son a menudo parcial o completamente borradas, para después dibujar sobre lo borrado, creando formas fragmentadas y en capas que evocan gestos y relaciones desconcertantes y misteriosas.
