OT.- The home of Isaac and Rebekah with Esau and Jacob

GÉNESIS 27: 1-45

Isaac, now old and blind, asks his firstborn son, Esau, to go hunting and prepare a stew for him so that he may bestow his blessing before he dies. Rebekah overhears this and helps Jacob, the younger son, serve the meal to his father while pretending to be Esau—the very moment depicted in this scene. Later, upon discovering that his brother had usurped his place, Esau resolves to take revenge for having missed out on his father's blessing.

Esau and Jacob represent two peoples, and one of them is destined for a momentous mission.
