OT.- Joseph Sold by His Brothers

GÉNESIS 37: 12-36

Jacob’s special treatment of Joseph, his favorite son, stirred up envy among his brothers. On one occasion, Joseph found them tending their flocks; they tore off his white tunic and threw him into a pit, intending to kill him. Ultimately, they decided to sell him to a passing caravan of Midianite merchants. This scene depicts the caravan heading toward Egypt, where Joseph would end up in the service of Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh’s guard.

Envy and murder are behaviors that appear repeatedly in the Bible, confronting humanity with the divine.
