OT.- Moses Found in the Nile River

EXODUS 2:1–10

 

The Pharaoh of Egypt, troubled by the Hebrews' prosperity in his land, ordered that every newborn boy be cast into the river. Consequently, a woman hid her son for months until she was forced to place him in a basket at the river's edge. The scene depicts the baby being found by Pharaoh's daughter and her handmaidens; she took pity on him and spared his life, naming him Moses—a name meaning "drawn from the waters." He would later be viewed as a liberator, for his rescue from the Nile River stands as a symbol of freedom for the Israelites.
