AT.- Golden Calf

ÉXODUS 32: 1-6

While God was handing the tablets of the Law to Moses on the mountain, the people grew impatient waiting and turned to Aaron—Moses’ older brother—asking him to make them a god. Aaron asked for their gold belongings to melt them down and fashion a calf; they erected an altar to it and offered sacrifices. The scene depicts the people celebrating and presenting offerings to the calf—representing idolatry, the worship of images of deities and the veneration of material things, which displeases God.
