A woman is shown from behind in an interior setting. She is nude with her hair loose, yet her proximity to a shelf displaying a pewter pitcher, a glass vase, and a couple of small pictures suggests that the room is not as private as a bedroom or bathroom. The setting, therefore, lends an unusual quality to the nudity.
Rodríguez is a self-taught artist who often uses photography as a reference for creating large-format portraits that evoke a sense of intimate, feminine mystery. His technique incorporates the use of an airbrush, standard and colored pencils, brushes, knives, crayons, and sandpaper, resulting in a highly distinctive approach to color—one that is both polished and versatile.
