Retrato de una mujer sobre fondo negro, compuesto por unos pocos trazos enérgicos. Se ha permitido que el exceso de pintura rebose, acabando de determinar los rasgos característicos y la expresión puntual de la retratada.

Bernhardt pinta paisajes, naturalezas muertas, personajes y objetos de la cultura popular y retratos fantásticos de mujeres, a veces modelos y celebridades, que saca de fotografías de revistas. Su estilo expresionista, casi abstracto, examina las representaciones de la belleza en los medios de comunicación y la fotografía de moda.
