Líneas y rectángulos irregulares a base de trazos puros sustentan una composición que se apoya también en la vibrante contigüidad de colores muy vivos.

La obra de Whitney explora las posibilidades formales del color, desde postulados cercanos al movimiento Color field y dejándose influir por otras manifestaciones artísticas como la música jazz. Su sistema de combinación de formas y colores, en su engañosa limitación, permite que estos manifiesten su sentido en direcciones inesperadas.
