Bert Stern produced several portraits of Elizabeth Taylor to promote Cleopatra, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, filmed in 1961 and released in 1963. The actress appears portrayed as the Egyptian queen, albeit with more restrained costume and makeup. What is clearly visible in the portrait is the scar from the emergency tracheotomy Taylor had to undergo to survive a pneumonia contracted during filming.
