Camille Hilaire’s work depicts a woman seen from behind, wearing lingerie and looking at herself in a mirror. Hilaire’s paintings reveal a certain Cubist influence, but lack the rigidity of the movement’s early years. Hilaire’s compositions can be described as subtle, and her paintings convey a sense of calm through their patterns and elements. Her nudes were also notable and possess a provocative grace.
