This talk will offer a critical reading of Grayson Perry’s work, analyzing how the series *The Vanity of Small Differences* relates to William Hogarth, as well as to the contemporary context in England. The talk will seek to lay some groundwork for understanding Perry’s portrayal of social classes in this series of tapestries, addressing the role that observation and criticism play in his body of work.
