Amparo and Manuel Foundation (AMMA) presented the sculptural work of Japanese artist Tomoaki Suzuki (Japan, 1972; based in London) in Mexico City for the first time, in collaboration with the Art Museum and the Gallery of the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).

AMMA Foundation was honored to showcase Suzuki’s work and to collaborate with guest curator Alexis Vaillant on the exhibition. Focusing on Suzuki’s artistic trajectory, the exhibition sought to create a dialogue with the Gallery’s early 19th-century neoclassical architecture—attributed to Manuel Tolsá—and the SHCP Art Museum’s New Spanish-era building (the former Archbishop's Palace), constructed in the 18th century. This was achieved by displaying a selection of Suzuki’s notable wood sculptures, reliefs, and bronzes both inside the Gallery and outdoors in the Museum’s second courtyard.

The exhibition highlighted the artist's ability to invert proportions, including those of the viewing public.
