Nativity: Glimpses Through Time (2022): National Museum of World Cultures, Mexico City – December 4, 2022 to February 12, 2023

Amparo and Manuel Foundation presented the exhibition Nacimiento, Miradas en el Tiempo for the ninth time at the National Museum of World Cultures, located in Mexico City’s Historic Center.

This exhibition features a monumental Nacimiento composed of more than a thousand painted clay figures in a figurative-expressionist style, depicting 50 biblical passages from the Old and New Testaments. The scenes are rendered with expressive gestures, polychromatic color, realism, and dynamism.

The Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía Nativity scene was created by artisan Felipe Nieva (Veracruz, Mexico) during the first half of the 20th century. In this exhibition, it will be accompanied by a contemporary sound piece created by artist Francisco Eme, as well as a photographic installation featuring the figures from the collection, to complement the aesthetic experience.
