Nativity: Glimpses Through Time (2023): National Museum of the Viceroyalty, Tepotzotlán, State of Mexico – December 2, 2023 to February 25, 2024

Amparo and Manuel Foundation (AMMA) presented the exhibition Nacimiento, miradas en el tiempo at the Museo Nacional del Virreinato, in the heart of the Pueblo Mágico of Tepotzotlán. 

This exhibition features a monumental Nativity scene composed of more than a thousand painted clay figures in a figurative-expressionist style, depicting 50 biblical passages from the Old and New Testaments. The scenes are rendered with expressive gestures, polychromatic color, realism, and dynamism. 

The Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía Nativity scene was created by artisan Felipe Nieva (Veracruz, Mexico) during the first half of the 20th century. In this exhibition, it will be accompanied by a contemporary sound piece created by artist Francisco Eme, as well as a photographic installation featuring the figures from the collection, to complement the aesthetic experience.
