Una mujer arrodillada sostiene una pierna amputada. Llora lágrimas de sangre, que han formado un charco. Una de las rojas lágrimas le oculta un pezón; un corazón pálido le tapa el pubis. Pálidas mariposas revolotean a su alrededor, sobre un fondo negro sólo interrumpido en una esquina, en la que vemos las cabezas de tres mujeres (¿las brujas de Macbeth, las parcas, las gorgonas?) ensartadas en palos.

Los dibujos y pinturas de Goring, basados en experiencias autobiográficas, hacen a la vez referencia a tradiciones simbolistas. En su universo sombrío y fantasioso son recurrentes motivos como paisajes oscuros, flores antropomorfas, las lágrimas y mujeres distorsionadas (a menudo la doble figura de la propia Penny y Amelia, examante de la artista que murió joven por una sobredosis), resaltando siempre sobre fondos planos convertidos en campos de color.
