Retrato en primerísimo plano de una niña. Transmite una gran pena. Quizá está a punto de llorar. El hiperrealismo, especialmente evidente en los detalles del cabello, y los tonos fríos, abundan en la fuerte sensación de tristeza.


La traición de la inocencia infantil ha sido el tema central del trabajo de Gottfried Helwein desde sus primeros cuadros. En la niñez ve el pleno potencial de los valores y las virtudes humanas, la confianza, del amor, la compasión y la creatividad, susceptibles de ser traicionados.
