Retrato frontal de una mujer a grandes brochazos. Dos fragmentos son llamativos cada uno por su cuenta, lo que los hace en cierto modo independientes a pesar de formar parte de la misma figura: el rostro de la mujer, que se lleva la mano a la sien y cuyos grandes ojos miran con intensidad, y el torso que resalta por el aparatoso collar y por la prenda de vistoso entramado.


Bernhardt pinta paisajes, naturalezas muertas, personajes y objetos de la cultura popular y retratos fantásticos de mujeres, a veces modelos y celebridades, que saca de fotografías de revistas. Su estilo expresionista, casi abstracto, examina las representaciones de la belleza en los medios de comunicación y la fotografía de moda.
