The work by Quirarte + Ornelas depicts, in the form of a polyptych, various scenes of a woman wearing, tearing, and stretching a pair of stockings. In their work, the artists explore the materiality of objects, approaching them from a variety of perspectives beyond their utilitarian function. Using different media to conceive and create their pieces, they conduct research that examines the object from the perspective of its material nature, fragmenting and reconstructing it into structures in which form transcends function.
