Overview
Nativity, Moments in Memory (2013), National Museum of Popular Cultures, Mexico City - December 12, 2013 to February 16, 2014

December 12, 2013, to February 16, 2014.

The sister foundations, Amparo and Manuel (AMMA) and Espinosa Rugarcía (ESRU), dedicated to promoting cultural values, presented the exhibition Nacimiento: Moments in Memory at the National Museum of Popular Cultures in Coyoacán for the first time.

The exhibition consisted of the Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía Nativity, which features fifty biblical passages from the Old and New Testaments, and a sound art piece created specifically for the exhibition by artist Francisco Eme, with the intention of complementing the aesthetic experience.

The Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía Nativity Scene was created by Felipe Nieva (Orizaba, Veracruz) when the Ashby family commissioned him to create figures representing biblical scenes in the early 20th century. The collection consists of approximately 1,100 painted clay figures in a figurative-expressionist style, characterized by intense gesturality, polychromy, realism, and vitality.

In 2013, AMMA and ESRU foundations presented Nacimiento: Moments in Memory from a Contemporary Perspective for the first time through their curatorial vision and museum installation.
