On this fourth anniversary of her passing, Amparín Serrano Espinosa's legacy lives on in the objects, the people, the exhibitions, the colors, and the memories she left behind with those close to her, as well as with all her fans around the world. Today we celebrate her by reminding everyone that being different is cool, no matter what anyone says.

Amparín began many of her creations by hand. She would draw, make corrections, cut out, and combine elements until she found each character's personality. Later, those sketches might be transferred to a digital format or transformed into new objects, but they always retained the imperfections and freshness of the original drawing. Her process was intuitive and experimental: a constant quest to tell new children's stories, elicit laughter, and connect her personality with others.

Through her unique perspective, Amparín built a universe of characters that reinvented Mexican graphic design and everyday folklore. With playful typefaces, typical phrases laced with satire, and a sharp sense of humor, Amparín took her art from paper to ceramics, drawing, digital illustration, and various everyday objects.
In her universe, fantastical creatures, mischievous babies, dreamy children, villains with a heart, and nods to Mexican urban culture coexist, creating an inclusive space where design became a meeting place for everyone. In her various graphic worlds, authenticity is celebrated, the differences that make us 100% unique are embraced, and we are constantly reminded that we are all extraordinary beings.
