Oscar Cueto Mexico City, b. 1976
Óscar Cueto, who was born in Mexico City in 1976, lives and works in Vienna.
He studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has enjoyed residencies in Austria at the Atelierhaus Salzamt Residency and the Salzburger Kunstverein Residency, and also at the SVA School of Visual Arts in New York. In Mexico, he has received the First Prize of the Moons Awards and the CONACULTA grant.
Some of his solo exhibitions have been at the Schleifmühlgase 12-14 gallery, Vienna; Casa del Lago, Mexico City; Walter Maciel Gallery, Los Angeles; Museo Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Mexico City; Nina Menocal, Mexico City; Collette Blanchard, New York; and Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City.
Some of his group exhibitions have been held at the Museo Universitario del Chopo, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Museo Tamayo, and Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City; also at Matadero, Madrid; Banff Centre, Alberta, Canada; and Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, among others.
His work belongs to public and private collections such as the Colección Jumex, Mexico City; Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), Mexico City; and Museum of Latin American Art, California.
