Seeing is not an absolute act. The (in)visible is not absence, but rather a tension between what is perceived and what eludes the gaze. This exhibition brought together drawings, paintings, sculptures, and photographs from the Amparo and Manuel Foundation’s collection—works that function as active forces: fluctuating, unstable, in constant collision.

Thresholds suggest zones of transit, spaces where the image is not a closed form, but a crossing between the invisible and the ubiquitous. Moments capture the ephemeral, highlighting the fragility of time and the impossibility of retaining it. Frictions manifest in encounters between opposing forces, points of resistance and conflict that generate a rupture or negation.

Through this selection, the exhibition seeks to challenge the notion of art as mere representation. By transcending the image, the works produce an experience that does not depend on their narrative character, but rather on the possibility of glimpsing different spatial, temporal, and oppositional relationships. The image ceases to be a fixed sign and becomes an event: something that occurs, unfolds, and expands before the viewer’s eyes.
