A man sitting on the edge of a bathtub watches a woman as she bathes. Each seems to be paying attention to something different. The setting is a cozy interior, dominated by wallpaper featuring peacocks—which, due to their size and abundance, resemble insects. Through the window, a residential neighborhood can be glimpsed.
Horing is interested in the narrative and psychological nature of portraiture. Her goal is to examine the person and their experience through a subjective interpretation. In her work, the depiction of the human face and skin is very sensual and rich in texture, and the settings reflect some private aspect of her desire or identity.
