Biography

Patty Horing was born in Chicago in 1965 and lives and works in New York.

Horing earned an MFA from the New York Academy of Art and a BA from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

 

Horing is interested in the narrative and psychological nature of portraiture and the human experience. Her aim is to examine the individual through a subjective interpretation. The way she treats the sitter’s environment also reflects intimate aspects of their identity or desires, closely intertwined with their psychological background.

 

Most of her group exhibitions have taken place in New York, at galleries such as Space, Flowers, the White Plains Performing Arts Center, Wilkinson, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, and the Aljira Center for Contemporary Art in New Jersey. She has also exhibited at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. In 2017, she had her first solo exhibition at Anna Zorina Gallery in New York.
