Ezra Johnson Washington, EUA, b. 1975
Ezra Johnson was born in 1975 in Wenatchee, Washington State.
He earned a Master’s degree in Painting from Hunter College, New York, in 2006. He lives and works between New York and London.
Johnson’s work fuses still and moving images. He applies the logic of time and movement inherent to animation to kinetic brushstrokes and patterns that draw the viewer’s gaze across the pictorial surface. His paintings can be read as vignettes, in which a narrative sequence becomes perceptible, revealing the immediacy of movement.
He has exhibited his work at institutions such as the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, SITE Santa Fe, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, among others. His work is included in collections such as the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
