Klaas Rommelaere Belgium, b. 1986

Biography

Born in the Belgian city of Roeselare in 1986, he lives and works in Antwerp.

He graduated from the Fashion Department of KASK (Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent). He completed internships with the Danish designer Henrik Vibskov and the Belgian designer Raf Simons.

Rommelaere began experimenting with drawing through textile techniques such as spinning and working with needle, thread, and wool. As the production of drawings, concepts, and works became more complex and time-consuming, he turned to collaborating with a group of seamstresses from his hometown. His main source of inspiration is cinema and television series, although his works remain deeply rooted in the traditional craftsmanship of his region.
