    La obra de George Rodrigue retrata a un perro azul con ojos amarillos observando fijamente al espectador sobre un fondo naranja acompañado de flores.
    La primera de sus famosas pinturas Blue Dog (Perro azul) reconocida, fue hecha en 1986, después de un período de paisajes y retratos. Rodrigue utilizó la forma y la postura de su perro fallecido llamado Tiffany, y fue influenciado principalmente por la leyenda loup-garou. El Blue Dog se hizo popular por Absolut Vodka en 1992, cuando Rodrigue fue honrado como artista de la marca uniéndose a artistas famosos como Andy Warhol y Hans Godo Frabel. El Blue Dog fue utilizado tanto por Absolut Vodka como por Xerox Corporation a través de campañas publicitarias nacionales. El spaniel/terrier azul fantasmal a menudo se presenta con una nariz blanca y ojos amarillos.
