A landscape-format portrait of a couple. The two figures are seated on chairs; their demeanor is relaxed and even cheerful. Thanks to its intriguing painterly treatment, the background—far from being merely a secondary element—appears almost like a painting in its own right, adding a new layer of depth to the portrayed couple.
Freeman is known for her intimate abstractions in oil and acrylic on linen and canvas. Often created over long periods, her paintings glow with a multitude of colors across varying layers of opacity and sheen, revealing the artist's profound sensitivity to the subtlest nuances of form and tonality.
