A seated woman, naked except for stockings reaching halfway up her thighs and wearing high heels, is surrounded by otherworldly beings, such as skulls, in a portrait with a symbolist feel. The antique calligraphy contributes to the overall archaic atmosphere.
Kahlhamer’s work traces the influence of Native American tribes on his own identity by intertwining his life experiences with mythology. His expressionist and surrealist style is also inspired by country music, punk culture, graffiti aesthetics, and comic books.
