A woman in her underwear, her breasts exposed, appears surrounded by darkness in which a mysterious face can be made out. The somewhat free treatment of the watercolor contributes to the mysterious and fluid nature of the aquatic world.
Kahlhamer’s work traces the influence of Native American tribes on his own identity by intertwining his life experiences with mythology. His expressionist and surrealist style is also inspired by country music, punk culture, graffiti aesthetics, and comic books.
