A naked woman, slumped rather than sitting in a chair. Her features are blurred. The simplicity of the technique—a black drawing with fluid lines—is enough to convey a sense of exhaustion.
Emin finds in art a form of therapy to overcome the traumas of her youth, recreating her own memory filled with pain. In her work, she captures raw candor and suffering through themes such as sex, excess, drugs, and hangovers, which she explores in various media, including sculpture, drawing, installation, and video.
