Amparo and Manuel Foundation presented the first institutional exhibition in Mexico by contemporary Brazilian artist Zéh Palito.

Zéh Palito uses his artwork to tell stories about contemporary African culture and the African diaspora. The characters in his pieces are portrayed in poses and gestures that convey the power of identity in a positive light, paying homage to a rich cultural heritage. Combined with the use of vibrant colors, each figure radiates confidence, pride, and self-assurance through their very existence, blending with elements of nature—such as exotic fruits and flowers—that frame the protagonists of their own stories.

The Brazilian artist’s paintings go beyond the color and joy evoked by his compositions; they highlight political issues affecting Afro-descendant communities and the challenges faced by minority groups, aiming to foster empathy in the viewer.

Zéh Palito’s practice seeks to promote a relationship of mutual respect between humanity and nature, often drawing inspiration from Brazilian, African, and American cultures. Uplifting, inspiring, and celebrating marginalized communities and underrepresented voices is a fundamental element of his work.
