There are two men in what appears to be a nightclub interior, illuminated by the reflections of a disco ball. One is looking at a phone while holding a drink in the other hand. The other has his back to the viewer. But they could be the same man: perhaps it's a man and his reflection, as some symmetrical positions suggest (while others, slightly off-center, contradict this).
Ezra Johnson's work in animation also leaves its mark on his paintings. From the combination of both techniques emerges a new logic of time and movement. Kinetic brushstrokes and patterns draw the eye across the image. Johnson's creations capture a single instant within the narrative sequence.
