A sculpture in various materials depicting the headless body of a woman. Rather than seated, she is curled up in a school chair, with the flexibility of a clay figure. Her breasts are exposed, but she wears shoes and knee-high stockings. The twisting motion and the clothing suggest something gymnastic. The colors and forms have a cartoonish quality.
Lucas's works reproduce lascivious gestures that reveal the absurdity of sexual stereotypes. Lucas subverts the male gaze and the symbols of what is considered feminine or masculine. By questioning how we understand and relate to aspects such as sexuality, illness, and death, his work expands the boundaries of body representation.
